The Holidays are Here.... Is Everyting Honestly Full of Cheer?

I know that I am not the only person in the world to DREAD some things that come along with the holidays, am I? Sure, I get excited as if I were a child about the smell of Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is true, that there is more that I love about the holidays BUT, there are MANY things that I dread.

Where do we go this year, your folks or mine? Why can't we just stay in for once? I pay to live at my beautiful home for a reason. I would love to show it off sometime too! It is not always easy for me to travel with my bunch and especially to someones house who doesn't have kids and all of their things are in one place neat and tidy. I do more worrying about what my kids might get into than I do mingling with people my own age. That alone will wear you out! Granted, the PRO in that situation is you get to go home to your own house without the mess of 50+ other adults and kids.  :)

It is also nice to see people you have not seen in a while (at least since last year's holidays). However, it can be a bit awkward trying to find common ground to talk about. Especially, when you are at the in laws who you rarely have contact with on a daily basis every other time of year. You get there and some of their family doesn't even know your name and you sit there pondering you next move (or even escape, pending your personal situation!).

Is there a certain member of your family that you are hoping to avoid? Do they make you positively dread that day in which the family gathers? I know I have a few of those! Each year it seems to get harder to deal with too. Each person grows in certain elements of there life and others don't.

It can be hard to deal with but each year, I pray that I can endure all things necessary for whatever reason our Heaven's mysteriously have in place. Overall, I do LOVE the holidays and all the preparations and decorations.

What do you love about the holidays and what do you DREAD?

  1. I LOVE the music, the "good cheer," decorating the tree....
Sometimes having all the parties with different friends and family in such a short span of time grates on my nerves. A bit.

  3. I love the MIL Cat. The picture is adorable. As one of the non-children hosts, I have learned to child proof the house before the kids arrive and make sure their packages include toys to keep them amused.

I hope you continue with your blog now that the holidays are over.
